As a freshman in college, an organization named Compassion International came to North Greenville to share about their mission to help children in poverty all over the world. I was moved by a woman who came to share about how we should be the hands and feet of Christ.

So I decided to sponsor a child. Her name is Wendy Romero and she lives in the country of Columbia. It has been a wonderful experience over the last six years. When I started sponsoring Wendy she was only four years old. She's now ten years old and I have received many letters and pictures from her learning about her family, her country, her love for Jesus Christ!

It has been a blessing to come along a family in need.  I've never met them but I to feel so close to them. In every letter Wendy sends me she tells me that she is praying for me. She is praying for me. Let that sink in. How blessed am I by this sweet child in Columbia. It is a joy to write her letters, send her coloring pages, read her letters, and see her growing year after year in the pictures that I am sent.

It only costs $32 dollars a month to sponsor a child in need. That money goes to give these children an education, health care, and other personal needs. That is the equivalent of two CD's, two meals out, or eight Starbucks lattes. To be honest, it has never hurt to write that $32 check. I could probably stand to give more. The Lord has blessed me greatly and I am blessed to sponsor Wendy. God has blessed us to be a blessing.

I am greatly encouraged by a few bloggers who are currently visiting Compassion projects and sharing their experiences with the world: http://www.boomama.net/ or http://rocksinmydryer.typepad.com/

If you are interested in sponsoring a Compassion child please visit their website at:

It's Valentine's day, the day of love. What better way is there to show someone the love of Jesus Christ? You can help change the world of a child forever. Please take a moment to look at their website.

Decorating for the first time!

Merry Christmas Everybody!

Last year before our wedding, the wonderful women that I worked with at Taylors FBC threw us a Christmas shower. We were so blessed by our friends with lots of beautiful ornaments, wreaths, platters, nativity scenes, wrapping paper, etc! All we had to buy for Christmas this year was a tree.
So last weekend we put it all to use! We made some coffee and hot cocoa and got to work decorating. As we took the boxes out of the attic to use everything for the first time, I was continually reminded of these wonderful women and overwhelmed by their generosity to us last year. With each ornament, I remembered the sweet times with these friends from Taylors. Here are some pictures of their sweet blessings:

Steven's broken head

Last night after Bible study I walk out and am talking to some friends when I get a call from Steven telling me that he is going to the emergency room because someone elbowed him in the head during flag football. Of course I freak out at which point a friend of his takes the phone and explains things a lot calmer. Here's the documentation of our first hospital visit as a married couple. He's feeling fine now and says it doesn't hurt too bad.

Here's Steven the next day. He got up and went to school today. If I had stitches, I definitely wouldn't be at work the next day

The close up of 8 stitches

Here's Steven's sad bandaged face.

So it's been a pretty busy few weeks. We went to our first Auburn game last Saturday with a guy from our Sunday school class and some of his friends. They played Mississippi State and we lost 14-19. Boo. It was so hot we almost cooked in the stadium and I came home with a lovely uneven tan line. At first I was self conscious about my crazy face tan but then I realized that everyone else at church had one too. Here's pictures:

Yay, our first Auburn game! War Eagle

The sea of orange during the star spangled banner, All Auburn All Orange!

Yay, We're still winning at half time!

Taylor Hicks performed during half time. Apparently he is an Auburn grad.

Boo! Auburn lost and these are our sad  and sunburnt faces.
